Golf Tips

The winter is a typically a time when most of use head indoors to get out of the usual rainy West Coast weather patterns. You can still keep your body tuned up by joining a local gym! If you have not been in a gym for a few years, you will be surprised at the variety of available training options. Workout routines and methods are becoming far more specific and sophisticated, benefiting your golf game even when you aren't able (or willing) to be out on the course. One way to improve the stability and balance in the swing is by working out with a ball - a method I have found personally effective.

One simple example of an exercise to improve strength and stability in your swing.

Before doing any physical training I suggest consulting a certified fitness trainer to get you started. Depending on your level of experience working out using a ball, you should start out sitting on down on the ball, keeping your knees bent at a 90 degree angle and have someone spotting you to prevent possible injury. Once you become more proficient you can start to kneel on the ball as illustrated. Practice swinging the club on the ball, concentrating on keeping the club (hands) in front of your upper body during the entire swing.
